Brian Phillips (British b 1939) is a self taught painter born in Manchester, but now living in Scotland. He was employed as a graphic designer, but with the onset of an illness in 1978 that almost took his life, he fought back from being seriously handicapped to paint in a style that suited his disability, of which this painting is an example.  More recently he has worked in the art therapy field with children, the elderly and the mentally ill.
