Victor Noble Rainbird (British 1888-1936) practised as a professional artist in North Shields after sevice in WW1, exhibiting locally and further afield. He painted in watercolour, often using a subdued palette, with landscapes, coastal scenes and figure groups providing the subject for most of his output. He died at the young age of 47 in Sunderland. This watercolour is a strong example of Rainbird's work, depicting a young girl of the period with his loose brushwork.
