Thomas Thomas (British 1839-1915) was a Birmingham based painter, who worked as a sketch artist for the London Graphic. This oil on canvas is essentially Victorian in its composition, although the brushwork is softer and looser than many artists from this period. Its charm is in the depiction of a scene long gone from the countryside.
