George Fall (British 1848-1925) lived in Yorkshire, teaching if Selby and York. He is noted for his softly coloured topographical vignettes of towns painted mainly in watercolour but sometimes in oil. This watercolour is typical of his work, perhaps showing the influence of Myles Birkett Foster, and shows one of the many views he undertook of York itself.
