Oliver Hall (British 1869-1957) was a landscape painter in oil and watercolour, as well as an etcher. He was born in London, but painted in the North west and other parts of the UK, and abroad. A north country landscape is held by the Tate Gallery, but he is also represented in other municpal galleries and museums. This oil on canvas captures the bleak characteristics of an empty moorland, with its neutral colours and thinly applied paint.
