Stanley Orchart (British 1920-2005) was born in London, studied engineering, but became a full time artist in 1959. He painted topographical oils and watercolours with a draughtsman's attention to archictectural detail, but in a free style, of which this is a prime example. He had many solo exhibitions, and his work is held in public and private collections, including members of the Royal Family.
