Audrey M Smith (British b 1933) was born in Derbyshire, training at Stockport and Birmingham Schools of Art. She initially worked as an illustrator, and began exhibiting paintings in 1967 whilst teaching. Her work often combines line and colour, with early paintings having a strong social content with a northern flavour, of which this is a prime example. She has had many solo exhibitions within the North West and her work is held in public galleries and institutions.
