Roger de le Corbiere (Austrian 1893-1974) was born in Vienna and studied under the Russian painter Ivan Choulbe whose atmospheric use of light influenced him. He painted sunset and moonlight scenes in oil, frequently with coastal settings, of which the above oil is a particularly good example, and sold his work in the UK, USA and Canada.
