Sheila Meeks (British b1955) lives in Lancashire and paints in watercolour and oil, exhibiting in the area. Her work is usually concerned with aspects of everyday life, although Cornwall's towns and coastal villages  is area that has caught her interest. Indeed this painting shows the influence of some of the Newlyn School artists, although Meeks has applied her own abstracted style upon the subject.
